Unlock the art of handwriting with SmoothStart handwriting

Scrap the pointless task of getting children to write the date and LC/LO and instead, use the time doing something purposeful. Doing handwriting as starters at the beginning of English lessons allows children to work on their letter formation and fluency straight away; the handwriting then sets a standard for the rest of their lesson. 

Before writing, children are expected to do a couple of hand warm-ups with and without a pencil. Correct posture and grip should be modelled every single day and then the letter/word modelled by the teacher. Children then trace and practise whilst the teacher circulates and picks up on any errors.
